Lance DeSardi - Live Trax Vol 1

Given the length of his ongoing career, it's perhaps unsurprising that Texan-in-London-via-San-Francisco Lance DeSardi favours hardware-based music-making and in-the-moment improvisation.

He's leant into this in his live sets at Love International, Glastonbury (Block 9) and Sunset Sound System parties in California. It's these live workouts that inspired this EP, the first in an ongoing series. There's something pleasingly warm, raw and nostalgic about 'The Strobe', which sounds like the kind of West Coast deep house fare he was making during his San Fran days. That's also available in delay-laden 'Acapella' and driving, acid-powered and riff-sporting 'Bass Dub' forms (the latter being the EP's most potent moment), while bonus cut 'Spirit Level' is ultra-deep, immersive and wonderfully hypnotic. Bravo!
