About this release
New Dimensions finds drummer Larry Bright moving between jazz fusion, synthesizer-led arrangements and drum-machine electro-funk. Self-released in 1987 as his second solo album, the eight-track record follows his work with musicians including Sun Ra and Ahmad Jamal. Guitarist John Grant, bassists Tony Bunn and Mark Easley, and trumpeters Jimmy Wilson and Ivan Smart contribute to the sessions. Bright combines their playing with electronic textures and pop-influenced song structures, giving the album a different setting from his work behind other bandleaders. This remastered reissue presents the full original programme on 180g vinyl, housed in a reproduction of the original picture sleeve.
