About this release
Originally released in 1979, Cumulus finds British pianist Laurie Holloway exploring jazz fusion through atmospheric arrangements and subtly funky rhythms. Its cloud and weather imagery runs from Nebula and Cirrus to Whirlwind and Vortex, framing a set that balances melodic writing with a more expansive instrumental sound. The record brings together the jazz sophistication and rhythmic detail at the heart of Holloway's music.
