About this release
Lewis Taylor recorded Stoned Part I at home after leaving Island, co-writing and co-producing the album with longtime collaborator Sabina Smyth. First issued through his Slow Reality label in 2002, it brings layered vocals, funk rhythms and psychedelic detail into direct soul songwriting. Taylor sings and plays every instrument, moving from the title track’s wah-wah guitar and synthesizers to the quieter harmonies of Send Me An Angel. Positively Beautiful, Shame and Lovelight show other sides of that approach. Be With’s first vinyl edition presents all eleven tracks across two records, mastered by Simon Francis and cut by Cicely Balston.
