About this release
Loop Diary builds Music from Tokyo / New York around field recordings from two cities. The Tokyo side draws on streets and parks in Japan, while the New York side incorporates Brooklyn, Manhattan and recordings of insects in the surrounding mountains.
Analogue synthesizers, vinyl samples and drum machines connect ambient, downtempo, trip-hop and dub. Reverb and delay give each track a sense of space, with bass lines and small rhythmic details carrying the atmosphere. Namiko Ishikawa’s ceramics appear on the sleeve.
