About this release
Mattie Safer presents his lovetempo project on Razor-N-Tape Reserve, drawing on a musical path that includes The Rapture and Poolside. The EP brings his voice into a quieter setting, moving through laid-back disco, modern bossa nova and jazz-informed song arrangements. Four originals balance melancholy with a lighter outlook, with The One, What To Do But Love You and There’s No You on the first side. The Sun opens the reverse before Yuksek’s remix takes the same song further towards the dancefloor. Across the five tracks, vocal writing and organic arrangements remain the connection between the different rhythmic approaches.
