About this release
M.A.D Productions featuring Carroll Thompson – Too Late captures the soulful side of late-1990s UK garage. Produced by M.J. Cole and Darryl 'B', the 1998 cut returns as a remastered 12-inch reissue on South Street, with two complementary mixes of Thompson's vocal.
The Deep Vocal Mix sets her performance against skipping drums, a rounded bassline and soft pads. On the flip, the Underground Dub cuts the vocal into smaller phrases and pushes the swing of the percussion forward. It's a versatile pairing for garage sets, with the warmth of the vocal version balanced by the dub's more stripped-back dancefloor focus.
