About this release
Ultra Villain is Maara’s personal account of desire, heartbreak and obsession, with a narrative that moves towards self-trust and the freedom to choose herself. Trip-hop and downtempo textures meet the bass weight and rhythmic force of her club productions, with vocals giving the record a more intimate focus. Its moods move between tension and calm, connecting atmospheric electronic passages with direct songwriting. Written and produced by Maara Louisa Dunbar, the album includes additional production and mixing by Francis Latreille and Patrick Holland at Jump Source Studios. Noel Summerville handled mastering, while the artwork and design come from Dodleyz and Jesse Osborne-Lanthier.
