About this release
Mad Professor’s Cuts & Dubs – Volume One brings twelve selections from the Ariwa catalogue to Test Pressing Recordings. From the South London studio Neil Fraser established in 1980, the compilation traces a sound that reaches across dub, roots, lovers rock and digital dancehall.
Alongside Mad Professor’s own productions, the sequence features Earl Lawrence, Jah Shaka, Starky Banton, Ragga Doll, Professor Doppler, the Robotics, Robotiks and Aisha. Their different approaches are connected by the character of the Ariwa desk, giving the collection a broad range without losing its identity. Presented across two records in a picture sleeve, it offers a generous introduction to the label’s musical world.
