About this release
Makoto Matsushita's First Light returns on orange vinyl LP, a cult Japanese city pop, AOR and jazz-funk debut from 1981.
Written and recorded while Matsushita was still in his mid-20s, the album blends yacht-rock polish, Steely Dan-style jazz precision, warm funk grooves and breezy Balearic calm. Highlights such as 'Resort For Blue', 'September Rain' and 'Sunset' show why the record remains a touchstone for collectors and DJs drawn to sophisticated Japanese pop and quietly sunlit grooves.
