About this release
Marc Cotterell’s Many Changes EP draws on soulful house and garage rhythms, giving each track a different balance of vocals, bass and melodic detail. Take Your Time opens with piano stabs and soulful singing over a squelching bassline and loose garage-house drums. Mysterious Ex follows with a lighter funk touch, while Feed the Soul fills the reverse with strings and an early-1990s New Jersey garage feel. This Life Living closes the record with a rolling vocal-house groove. Released through Cotterell’s Plastik People label, the EP keeps the emphasis on musical arrangements and the swing of the rhythm section.
