About this release
Marcos Valle's Girassol began as a promotional recording for Brazilian supermarket chain Rede CB De Supermercados in 1983. Written by Valle, Paulo Sérgio Valle and Ribeiro José Francisco, it was issued on Valle, Ribeiro & Associados Ltda. as a 7-inch gift for customers. The song's short running time concentrates its Brazilian boogie feel into a smooth arrangement with an uplifting chorus, recalling the sound of Valle's Estrelar period. Mr Bongo's reissue pairs the vocal with Girassol Playback on the reverse, preserving both sides of the original release in a compact two-version single.
