About this release
Mark Grusane works through the raw materials of Chicago house on A House Of My Own: driven percussion, bass stabs, emotive pads and the unmistakable bite of a 303. The title track opens the set before two versions of Essence Of Life take contrasting routes, from distorted vocals and darker after-hours rhythms to a brighter synth-led daytime mix. Knock Knock, Who’s There? puts swinging 909 drums against a saturated acid bassline, while Love And Lust brings a sexually explicit vocal into the programme. Jack Your Ass Off closes this six-track Disctechno release with a direct nod to Chicago’s jacking tradition.
