About this release
The Edge finds Medline rebuilding ten compositions associated with library music, film scores and the sample foundations of hip-hop. Rather than sampling the recordings, the French-Chilean musician performs the arrangements himself, using flutes, brass, keyboards and electric guitar alongside drum and bass programming. The title track revisits David Axelrod’s composition for David McCallum, while A Day In The Life, Keep Quiet and Coffee Cold place familiar material in a new instrumental setting. Following the approach developed on Solstice, the album connects jazz-funk, soul and soundtrack textures through Medline’s home-studio practice. This My Bags vinyl edition presents five tracks on each side.
