About this release
Lance Ferguson’s Melbourne ensemble Menagerie returns with The Shores Of Infinity, its fourth album and third for Freestyle Records. The nine-piece group draws on the spiritual jazz of the post-Coltrane generation while bringing that tradition into a contemporary setting. Across six compositions, the music keeps rhythm at its centre, developing from the title track through Kingdom and Earthrise before Arrival opens the second side. Of and Danieda’s Dance complete the programme. Following They Shall Inherit, The Arrow Of Time and Many Worlds, the album continues Ferguson’s work with a larger ensemble, connecting his experience as a guitarist, producer and songwriter to Menagerie’s collective jazz sound.
