About this release
MFSB’s final studio album connects the Philadelphia ensemble’s soul foundation with orchestral jazz-funk and Dexter Wansel’s synthesizer writing. The group grew from Sigma Sound Studios’ house band, and Mysteries Of The World retains that collective approach across eight tracks. Manhattan Skyline opens with horns, strings and bass, while the title piece brings synthesis, harp and live strings into its rhythmic arrangement. Carla Benson sings on Tell Me Why, and Old San Juan introduces a distinctive guitar figure on the reverse. Be With’s reissue returns the album to vinyl with Simon Francis’s mastering and restored Robert Giusti artwork.
