About this release
Clarity brings Michael Gregory Jackson together with Oliver Lake, David Murray and Wadada Leo Smith in a session recorded in 1976. Jackson works across guitar, mandolin, flute and percussion, meeting the woodwind and brass voices of his contemporaries in an open, exploratory ensemble setting. The music reflects New York's loft-jazz community while reaching beyond a single style, balancing structured passages with freer exchange. Released in collaboration with Jackson, this Moved By Sound edition restores and remasters his first album. The black-vinyl LP is housed in a reverse-board sleeve with a postcard insert and new liner notes by LaMont Hamilton.
