About this release
Illegal Disco 010 continues Monsieur Van Pratt's series of disco reworks, placing borrowed instrumentation within rolling, house-influenced rhythms. Don't Say Goodbye opens with horns at the front of the arrangement, tightening the original disco feel around a more direct groove. Gonna Getcha shifts to boogie, with a squelching synth-bass part driving the track, before Make Love To You closes with a lower, heavier disco-funk feel. Across the record, the edits keep the character of the source performances while changing their timing and rhythmic weight, linking the three cuts through bass, percussion and melodic hooks.
