About this release
Universo brings Yuji Takenouchi's Mr. YT alias to Short Span, reconnecting with the deep, melodic sound of his 1990s records for the R&S family of labels. The opening side gives that language a more propulsive shape, balancing firm kicks with fluid melodies and Detroit-inspired chords. Acuario and Escorpio carry a brighter rhythmic drive, while the second side settles into the softer, more reflective territory of ambient house. Across the EP, spacious arrangements and intricate melodic movement hold the tracks together, linking the tenderness of Takenouchi's earlier work with a renewed focus on the dancefloor.
