About this release
Propeller is Mytron's first solo full-length for Multi Culti, bringing together dub, disco and krautrock influences after his collaborations with Ofofo and Zongamin. Vocoder lines and economical arrangements recall Kraftwerk, while the production keeps room for analogue grit, playful electronic sounds and shifting percussion. The album moves from the title track's harmonised vocals and bongo loop to the organ-led movement of Keep On Dubbing, with synthesizer patterns and rhythmic detail carrying the music between club use and home listening. Its video-feedback sleeve imagery echoes the record's interest in filtered, distorted and interconnected signals.
