To launch their new dusty-fingered label Proxima, Audrey Danza and Nicolas Oggier have opted to reissue Nando Litteri's 'A.E.A.E.O', a throbbing and far-sighted slab of Italo-disco/new wave fusion from 1984. It's a great choice, not least because Litteri's bold mixture of undulating synth-bass, spacey sounds, eyes-closed guitar solos, delay-laden machine drums and chiming lead lines is far more refined than many Italo-disco records made in the same period. This edition not only boasts the extended Italian vocal and instrumental versions (the latter being our pick of the pair), but also the surprisingly different and more up-beat seven-inch mix. Intriguingly, this adds an entirely different, high-register lead line not present on the club-focussed versions.
