About this release
Roadmaps is the debut album from New Visionaries, the partnership of Joel Sarakula and Phil Martin. Recorded around sessions in Dordrecht, the music brings together instrumental soul, funk, jazz and the cinematic approach of library records. Sarakula and Martin play much of the instrumentation themselves, using keyboards, guitars, bass and percussion alongside vintage electric pianos and organs. Hannah Williams contributes vocals to Summer Rain, while flute and horn guests add further detail elsewhere. Across ten tracks, pieces such as Giallo Days, Firecracker and Interstellar Bachelor Pad shift between different moods while keeping the arrangements concise and centred on groove.
