About this release
Nicola Cruz’s Hybridism brings North African rhythms, Persian melodic ideas and electronic production together across five tracks. Aima draws on an Igbo refrain, while Naeku places minor-key feeling alongside the sound of the 303. Drom Tradisie uses FM synthesis for a brief, evocative interlude before the reverse side’s longer Third Eye Dub, featuring Nasiri on oud. Kawe’s Dream closes the EP with AYAN’s vocals reshaped through vocoder processing, inspired by the Tibetan Bardo Thodol. First released in 2020 on Multi Culti, the EP returns here in its MC048G green vinyl edition, retaining the complete original five-track sequence.
