About this release
Mysticisms revisits Nu-C·Zn’s That’s How Lovers Be, a Detroit vocal house recording first released by Soiree Records International in 1995. Derrick Thompson’s Drivetrain production supports Montaze Armstrong’s writing and vocals, with Merchon Bower alongside him. The Drivetrain Mix opens around swinging hats, bass and chords, before Nail adds a more looping, low-end treatment. Scott Grooves takes the reverse with That’s How Dub’s Be, an extended interpretation built from Rhodes, piano, claps and vocal elements. The three mixes connect the original song with two different approaches to its deep house setting, bringing the voices and rhythm into changing focus.
