About this release
Octivation captures an early chapter in Octave One’s Detroit techno sound, moving between acidic machine tracks and deeper, more reflective material. Sonic Fusion opens with the darker edge of the Burden brothers’ approach, followed by Octivate, while Paradise, Nicolette and Epilogue complete the five-track sequence. Originally issued as a white label in 1990, the EP offers a compact view of the soulful direction that would develop through their later work. This 430 West reissue restores the original white-label and sticker artwork, with remastered audio and the complete five-track white-label programme.
