About this release
Best Of Both Worlds brings together Opolopo’s production and Angela Johnson’s vocals across nine tracks for Reel People Music. The pair move between disco, soulful house and slower soul arrangements, with Johnson’s songs addressing betrayal, affection and the people closest to us. Buffalo features Kaidi Tatham and builds from percussion, synth bass and jazz-funk passages into a four-to-the-floor groove. She Knows and In The Meadows offer more relaxed settings, while Show Up, Show Out places horns and uplifting chords around the vocal. Short opening and closing pieces frame an album that develops the duo’s earlier collaborations into a full-length programme.
