About this release
Orchestra Baobab's Kelen Ati Leen / Souleymane pairs two recordings from the Dakar band's 1970s catalogue. Formed by musicians with roots in Senegal's Star Band, the group brought Latin influences into their African arrangements. Kelen Ati Leen comes from the 1975 Visage Du Senegaal – Vol. 6 album, with a mid-tempo funk rhythm, horns, guitar and group vocals. Souleymane, taken from the 1978 Un Nuit Au Jandeer LP, offers a more relaxed setting of Afro-Latin percussion and horns with highlife-flavoured guitar. Mr Bongo presents the songs as a double A-side 7-inch in its Africa 45s series.
