Mr Bongo’s Brazil45 series connects recordings from two different decades on this split 7-inch. Os Rouxinóis’ 'Um Balanço Prá Você' dates from 1964 and was originally issued by Copacabana on a five-track compacto. Written by Arnaud Rodrigues, it brings a shuffling bossa-nova feel to the A-side. Wal Sant’ana’s 'O Viajante' follows on the reverse: a 1974 RGE recording that combines a male lead with female backing vocals in a soulful MPB arrangement. The pairing moves from the earlier track’s offbeat charm to a fuller funk groove, giving each artist a side of their own.
