About this release
Riccardo Paffetti introduces his Paffetti alias on Tartelet, moving from the sample-rooted deep house of Black Loops towards a more psychedelic club sound. Utopia retains the warmth and rhythmic detail of his earlier work while adding small electronic accents and carefully placed samples. “B.Y.M.” turns around rolling bass and shuffling drums, while “Escucha Me” brings a disco-inflected groove into the set. Across the EP, melodic development and subtle shifts in texture carry the music forward. The result keeps deep house at its foundation, with a trippier surface of zips, pings and rhythmic details surrounding the central grooves.
