About this release
Phil Ranelin's Vibes From The Tribe documents the trombonist and Tribe co-founder within Detroit's independent jazz scene. The music connects spiritual jazz with funk, with contributions from players including Wendell Harrison, Marcus Belgrave and Kenny Cox. Now-Again's reissue was lacquered directly from the master tapes by Bernie Grundman using an all-analogue transfer. An oversized booklet places the music within the history of Tribe, with writing by Larry Gabriel and Jeff 'Chairman' Mao, archival photographs and ephemera. This aqua-coloured LP brings the album's title piece, Sounds From The Village and the extended He The One We All Knew together.
