About this release
Prince Fatty reworks Janis Joplin’s Mercedes Benz as a rub-a-dub recording with Shniece McMenamin and Horseman on vocals. The Supersize Band supplies the rhythm, with Leroy ‘Mafia’ Heywood on bass, Kashta Tafari on guitar and Carlton ‘Bubblers’ Ogilvie on organ and piano. Shniece carries the familiar song while Horseman adds his own lines, with reverb and low-end weight shifting the setting towards the sound system. Produced by Prince Fatty and released on Lovedub Limited, the seven-inch pairs the vocal recording with a version on the B-side, keeping both approaches to the same groove together.
