About this release
Prince of Queens brings Caribbean influences, house and techno together on the ‘Mérida EP’. Colombian-born, New York-raised producer and instrumentalist Felipe Quiroz wrote and produced its six tracks between Mérida in Mexico’s Yucatán and Brooklyn. Vintage tropical sounds meet modular synthesizers across a range of tempos, connecting his dancefloor work with the musical background of his band Combo Chimbita. ‘El Tiempo’, ‘Que Pasó?’ and the title track occupy the first side; ‘Macaria’s Funk’, ‘Summer Rain (Dub)’ and ‘No Hay Na’’ complete the reverse. Razor-N-Tape Reserve presents the six-song programme on a single 12-inch.
