About this release
Amsterdam quartet RADIOHOP pair their original Zathura with a remix by Kaidi Tatham. The group’s groove-based jazz draws on hip-hop, funk, fusion and broken beat, placing live guitar, keys, bass and drums at the centre of the music. Tatham’s version connects that sound to his own long involvement in broken beat, reframing the arrangement through supple rhythm and detailed keyboard work. The original appears on the reverse, making the relationship between the band’s playing and the remix easy to follow. Released by Wicked Wax, the seven-inch brings the two interpretations together as a focused pairing.
