About this release
Rahni Harris & Family Love's A Different Drummer combines gospel and R&B in recordings made in East Hartford, Connecticut, in 1977. Harris, a reverend and multi-instrumentalist, leads a nine-track set that brings devotional themes into soulful band arrangements. He's My Friend, Make It Easy and Syncopated Love show different rhythmic settings, while Inside Of Me opens the album and He Carried The Weight closes it. The sequence connects vocal expression with the group's interest in soul and funk, keeping the songs within a shared musical frame. Rain & Shine's reissue is remastered and reproduces the original artwork.
