About this release
Rammellzee and K-Rob's Beat Bop brings two contrasting rap personas into an unusually spacious, swirling instrumental setting. First issued in 1983, the track connects New York's early hip hop and downtown art scenes through its association with Jean-Michel Basquiat. Rammellzee takes the role of a hustler opposite K-Rob's B-boy, their exchanges giving the recording its distinctive theatrical character. This 7-inch pairs vocal and instrumental mixes, allowing the backing to be heard separately from the two MCs.
