About this release
South Street Soul opens its catalogue with two RAMP recordings from Come Into Knowledge. Roy Ayers helped shape the Ohio group’s music through writing, arranging and production alongside Edwin Birdsong and William Allen, without performing as a member of the band. Daylight places the group’s vocal and instrumental sound in a recording later sampled by A Tribe Called Quest for Bonita Applebum. On the reverse, RAMP reinterpret Ayers’ Everybody Loves The Sunshine, giving the song a different ensemble setting. This official seven-inch reissue keeps the two album selections together as a focused introduction to the group.
