About this release
The Vault Vol. 1 draws together nine recordings from Reggie Dokes's catalogue for Contrafact Records, connecting Detroit house with soul and beat-based production. Across two records, the selection moves from My Peeps On 6 and Afrika through Make Believe, Love Reigns and D-Funk, followed by Infatuation and Higher Ground. Two tracks are credited to Napi Hedz, the collaborative project involving Dokes and Pirahnahead: My Peeps On 6 and the Rough Mix of You Should Know. Freakazoid closes the collection. The programme combines solo productions and collaborative recordings, giving a broad view of Dokes's melodic and rhythmic approach.
