About this release
Above the Clouds finds Resavoir leader Will Miller working with bassist Lane Beckstrom and drummer Jeremy Cunningham on a largely electronic version of the Chicago project. Wind synthesizers, samples and electronic percussion take the place of a conventional jazz ensemble, while the loose interplay of their improvised sessions remains at the centre.
Across thirteen short pieces, the trio shape floating melodies and soft-edged beats into what they call ‘cloud jazz’. Kenneth Leftridge Jr. and Gregory Uhlmann add further textures, with Knox Fortune appearing on In Motion. This edition is the standard black 140g LP with a printed inner sleeve.
