About this release
Richenel’s La Diferencia captures the singer’s early work within Amsterdam’s experimental cassette scene. Drawn from his personal copy of the 1982 Fetisj album, these six selections combine synthesised bedroom funk with the rough edges of the city’s punk and squatter underground. The versions differ from the original cassette and include two compositions left off that release. Recorded with musicians connected through the Rietveld art academy, the music places Richenel’s distinctive voice against intimate, homemade arrangements. Co-compiled by Orpheu de Jong, Music From Memory’s EP moves from Autumn to the title track, presenting an early chapter before his later pop career.
