About this release
Music For Bus Stations (BS) is the second vinyl instalment of Rod Modell’s environmental sound project. The DeepChord producer designs slowly changing fields of sound to sit within architectural space, taking inspiration from bus stations in Portugal and Germany. Rather than foregrounding a conventional melody or beat, the music allows textures and overlapping elements to shift against one another. This LP contains Side B and Side S, two extended pieces totalling about thirty-eight minutes. Their long-form ambient structure reflects Modell’s interest in sound that becomes part of a location, suggesting movement and stillness within the same acoustic setting.
