About this release
Ron Trent’s Lift Off Part One brings five extended tracks to Rush Hour, pairing deep house with boogie and jazz-funk influences. “Hot Ice” opens with a nod to Wally Badarou, followed by “Jazz-Funk” and the expansive “Woman Of Color”, whose chords and synth strings meet samba-inflected percussion. Electric piano moves through the dancefloor groove of “Sexstrology”, before Leroy Burgess joins Trent for “Let Me See You Shining”. Burgess’ vocal connects his boogie background with Trent’s warm, layered production. This double-vinyl set presents the first half of Lift Off, combining instrumental pieces with that closing collaboration.
