About this release
Entre Amigos brings Rosa Passos' voice and guitar together with Ron Carter's acoustic bass, setting bossa nova songs within a small jazz ensemble. Originally released by Chesky in 2003, the recording also features guitarist Lula Galvão, percussionist Paulo Braga and Billy Drewes on tenor saxophone and clarinet. Carter's melodic lines support Passos' understated phrasing, with the arrangements leaving room for the detail of each instrument. The repertoire includes Jobim-associated standards such as Insensatez, Desafinado and Garota De Ipanema, alongside Bahia Com H and A Primeira Vez, bringing familiar songs into an intimate musical exchange.
