About this release
South Street Disco pairs two Roy Ayers recordings on this 12-inch: the long version of Running Away and Love Will Bring Us Back Together. Running Away connects disco rhythm with Ayers' jazz-funk approach, with bass, guitar, vocal harmonies and vibraphone working together.
The reverse takes a smoother route, with clavinet, Rhodes and vocals shaping Love Will Bring Us Back Together. Running Away was co-produced with Edwin Birdsong and William Allen, while Carla Vaughn shares production credit on the other side. The release brings these two distinct pieces of Ayers' catalogue together in their own extended playing space.
