About this release
‘Promise’ is Sade’s second album, originally released in 1985 and recorded at Power Plant Studios in England and Studio Miraval in France. The nine-track vinyl programme opens with ‘Is It A Crime’ and ‘The Sweetest Taboo’, moving through ‘War Of The Hearts’ and ‘Jezebel’ before the second side’s ‘Mr Wrong’ and ‘Never As Good As The First Time’. ‘Fear’, ‘Tar Baby’ and ‘Maureen’ complete the album’s mix of soul, jazz and pop. This edition is pressed on 180g black vinyl, using half-speed remasters at Abbey Road Studios from high-resolution stereo master transfers, with no additional digital limiting and faithfully reproduced packaging.
