About this release
Saigon Soul Revival bring Vietnamese musical traditions into conversation with soul, rock, Latin rhythm and dub on Chốn Ta Về, meaning The Place We Return To. Produced by Jan Hagenkötter and recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, the album centres on Nguyễn Anh Minh's songs of love, loss and finding a way home. Traditional instruments including T'rung and Sáo Trúc sit alongside the band's ensemble sound. Nguyễn Thị Hải Phượng contributes Đàn Tranh and Đàn Bầu, with guests including Đinh Nhật Minh and saxophonist Trần Mạnh Tuấn. The gatefold vinyl edition includes a printed inner sleeve with lyrics and song explanations in English.
