About this release
There Is Beauty, There Already explores the melodic possibilities of a drum ensemble. Sarathy Korwar recorded the album over four days at Real World Studios with fellow percussionists Photay, Magnus Mehta and Joost Hendrickx. Tabla, ghatam, marimba, balafon, udu and drum kit form an interlocking rhythmic pattern, with Buchla Easel and other electronic textures extending the instruments’ tonal range. Conceived as a continuous forty-minute suite, the music develops through repetition and improvisation across ten titled sections. The album follows KALAK and marks the launch of Korwar’s Otherland label.
