About this release
Scruscru and Los Protos join forces for a Brazilian-focused entry in the Local Sugar Diggers series, working with the melodic detail of MPB and the pulse of funk. Os Sons Do Rio sets sweeping strings and vocals against a firmer bassline and breakbeats, creating a rhythmic contrast with the source material. Sozinha Mulher takes a more relaxed route on the reverse, letting its groove unfold around understated horns and vocal phrases. The two reworks share an interest in rich arrangements and dancefloor movement, with the second side offering a gentler counterpoint to the opener.
