About this release
Kurt Spichiger brings Shaka's combination of deep house and jazz to Seasons Limited on the Smoky Club EP. The title track opens with a relaxed groove, electronic melodies and soft pads, leaving room for its organ and keyboard phrases. City Park places jazz-funk bass and extended electric piano passages over sampled disco drums, giving the B-side a warmer, more fluid character. The World Goes Oriental closes with a restrained, melodic approach rooted in Chicago deep house. Written and produced by Spichiger, the three pieces share an emphasis on musical development within the groove, moving from spacious club rhythm towards a gentler final mood.
