About this release
Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings pair two recordings from the Soul Of A Woman sessions on this Daptone seven-inch. Don't Wanna Lose You was written by saxophonist and Daptone co-founder Neal Sugarman, placing Jones's vocal within a groove-led soul arrangement. On the reverse, Don't Give A Friend A Number brings an R&B feel and atmospheric backing vocals to a song that confronts an unsuitable lover. The single presents both performances together, extending the recorded programme from the band's final studio album sessions.
