About this release
There's A Riot Goin' On finds Sly & The Family Stone moving away from the optimism of their earlier psychedelic soul towards a darker, more politically charged sound. Originally released in 1971, the album includes Family Affair alongside Luv N' Haight, Just Like A Baby and Runnin' Away.
This 50th anniversary edition presents the record on red vinyl in a gatefold sleeve. Its combination of funk, soul and a markedly less celebratory outlook captures a turning point for the group, with the extended Thank You For Talking To Me Africa bringing the second side to a close.
